Biography
Lauren Bomer is a second-year PhD student in the Herzka Lab at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute. Her research, under development within the NOAA OAP GOMECC program, focuses on understanding the coupled biogeochemical and ecological responses of pteropods and the pelagic food web to ocean acidification in the Gulf of America/Gulf of Mexico. She intends to integrate zooplankton community analysis, compound-specific stable isotope ecology, and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to assess ecosystem health and vulnerability.
