These events will occur rain or shine. Some of the boat trips may be impacted, but we will have plenty of cool demonstrations and hands-on activities!
Island Science Day, October 3 from 10 am – 2 pm
Island Science Day offers visitors of all ages the opportunity to explore marine science through interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, boat tours, laboratory tours, exhibits, live music, food, and more.
Registration is required for demonstrations and boat excursions, and space is limited. Registration will be available in person only on Saturday, October 3, at the Patton Center Auditorium (855 E Cotter Ave, Port Aransas, TX 78373) beginning at 9:30 AM, unless otherwise noted.

How do I register?
Registration is available in person only on Saturday, October 3, at the Patton Center Auditorium (855 E Cotter Ave, Port Aransas, TX 78373).
Demonstrations: Registration opens at 9:30 AM and will remain open throughout the event until each activity reaches capacity.
Boat excursions: Registration opens one hour before each scheduled departure:
9:30–11:00 AM trip → Registration opens at 8:30 AM
11:00 AM–12:30 PM trip → Registration opens at 10:00 AM
12:30–2:00 PM trip → Registration opens at 11:30 AM
All registration is first-come, first-served and subject to availability.
What should I wear/bring?
Come prepared for hands-on science! We recommend wearing closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Many of our activities involve working with water, sediments, marine organisms, and other materials, so getting a little messy is part of the experience. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring sun protection for outdoor activities and boat excursions. Closed-toed shoes are required for boat excursions.
Where can I park?
Parking is available in the parking lots at the Patton Center (855 E Cotter Ave, Port Aransas, TX 78373). Additional event parking will be available on the opposite side of campus at 750 Channel View Drive, Port Aransas, TX 78373. Please follow event signage and parking directions when you arrive.
