Laboratory Research Assistant R_00043592: The goal of the overall project is to investigate the importance of intertidal mangroves on the Texas coast as sources of atmospheric methane. The main goal of this position is to determine where in association with mangrove plants (e.g., within mangrove tissue, surrounding mangrove soils) microbial methane production takes place.Responsible for the performance of technical laboratory duties under the direction of a supervisor or faculty member.
Laboratory Research Assistant II R_00043610: This position is intended for a recent graduate (BS) looking to gain research experience before graduate school and will involve field and lab work as well as helping to manage the lab, including purchasing and organizing supplies. The technician will process sediment samples, sort and help identify benthic invertebrate samples, conduct field work in local estuaries and potentially on longer research cruises. The technician may also have opportunities to analyze and synthesize data, work on instrument development and trouble-shooting, and help set up a new innovation workshop
Postdoctoral Fellow R_00038665:This Postdoctoral Fellow position will be part of the Coastal Carbon Cycle Laboratory of the Marine Science Institute at the University of Texas at Austin located in Port Aransas, Texas. The initial appointment is set for one year, renewal is subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Research Associate R_00043991: The purpose of this position is daily operations of the Center for Coastal Ocean Science exposure and effluent facilities and other facilities as appropriate, overseeing technical operations for research and testing activities on behalf of internal and external clients. This position is responsible for developing and implementing all internal processes to maintain the ability to conduct scientific experiments as well as other conformance and regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and day-to-day operation of laboratory equipment in these facilities.
Research Engineering Scientist Associate I R_00043995: This position is responsible for the daily operation of the analytical instrumentation and developing methods to support UTMSI Faculty and is under the direction of the Core Facility Manager. Day-to-day you will be responsible for weighing standards, calibrating instrumentation, performing preventative maintenance, scheduling, and data processing. The Core Facilities Laboratory houses three ThermoFisher Delta-series isotope ratios mass spectrometers, (peripheral devices; Trace Gas-Chromatography 1310 ISOLINK II, Liquid Chromatography ISOLINK, elemental analyzer and a Gas Bench II), an Agilent liquid chromatography-ion-mobility-time of flight mass spectrometer, Shimadzu TOC/TDN analyzer, SEAL nutrient analyzer, and a host of complimentary equipment to support analysis of marine samples.
Research Operations Manager R_00042058: We seek a highly organized and motivated Research Operations Manager to oversee, manage, and coordinate a multidisciplinary collaborative research project executed out of the Texas Gulf Coast Research Center at UTMSI. The successful candidate will serve as a central point of contact between researchers, collaborators, and stakeholders, ensuring project implementation, coordination of field logistical support, and timely completion of deliverables aligned with scientific goals.
Part -time Position
Part-time Guard R_0004404: The purpose of this position is to monitor and assist with the security and protection of university buildings and properties. To control the access of personnel, report security violations, fire, and other safety hazards at the UT Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, Texas.
