Since 1971, the South Jetty newspaper has been a reliable voice for the Port Aransas community, regularly featuring stories about the University of Texas Marine Science Institute (UTMSI). In 2023, UTMSI launched Institute Insights, a bimonthly column penned by faculty, graduate students, and staff that offers readers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of marine science.
Now in its third edition, Institute Insights 2025: Issue 3 continues to inform, inspire, and engage through firsthand accounts from UTMSI scientists. From harnessing artificial intelligence in research to showcasing creative problem-solving in the field, this issue reflects the innovation and breadth of work happening in the Gulf of Mexico and beyond.
